Sophie Andries

Sophie Andries has over 33 years of experience in the IT and finance sector. She is currently the Manager of IT Risk & Security at ING bank in Belgium. Her goal is to evangelize knowledge sharing and promote free cybersecurity-related courses through an open platform to help overcome the shortage of cybersecurity professionals. Her initiative aims to widely open this niche field to the wider public, including people from different backgrounds.

And did she already achieve some results with this initiative? As a result of this effort, a 36-year-old chef was able to gain the necessary knowledge through the platform and join Sophie Andries’s team as the first Risk & Security engineer: he traded in his kitchen for a spot within Sophie’s team.

Going forward, she hopes the training platform will help increase employability of future Risk & Security experts, enable companies to find more skilled cybersecurity professionals, and ultimately help society tackle the threat of cyberattacks.
